Karate Is Sabah’s Pride

Karate runs in the family of Azuhan Syah Awang Hashim, 22, of Papar. All except his mother are the Japanese martial art exponents. His father, who teaches karate, and elder sister Maizatul Afidah are 2nd and 3rd dan black-belters respectively.His younger brothers aspire to be like them. And so it wasn’t surprising when Azuhan won the solo kata (choreographed fighting moves) title at the recent Sabah senior karate championship in Kota Kinabalu. Afterall he won the bronze at last year’s Kobe Osaka International (KOI) that has made youth and sports minister Peter Pang En Yin proud.
